The Chatto clan’s recent prominence in Bohol’s politican scene started in 1988 with Edgardo Chatto serving as Mayor. Since then, several members of the clan have recently occupied various positions such as Governor, House Member, Mayor, and Vice Mayor.


According to PSA's most recent data, major improvement in the poverty situation in Bohol has been observed since 2006.
